Monday, 15 August 2011: Play

As we grow older we have a tendency to play less. Why is this? Do we have too many priorities that don't allow us to run free and have a good time? Or do we think we're too mature to play anymore? Whatever excuses we come up with, we need to throw them away and get back to playing.

Having fun keeps us youthful, so we should play more. This past Friday CrossFit Montgomery had a gymnastics night at the local gymnastics training center and everyone involved had a great time. We laughed, we played, we bounced around, we hung upside down--it was like being a kid again. When the instructor wasn't watching us, we'd wander off and find things to entertain ourselves like seeing who could box jump the highest. Instead of waiting to be told what to do, we just played and had fun.

Of course we worked with the instructor for most of the evening, but at the end he let us have free rein of the gym since all the kids and parents were gone. Needless to say we had plenty of fun and look forward to the next gymnastics night.

If you're not having fun in what you're doing, why are you doing it. Do something that makes you smile. Your life will thank you for it later.
