Even though I love sharing the gospel of CrossFit and I encourage fellow CrossFitters to bring more into our fold, I'm not too keen on untrained people trying to program workouts for others. I think this is dangerous and can give the wrong image of CrossFit to the uninitiated. Although he/she may have taken a WOD he/she had previously completed from a foundations course and given it others to perform, the individual is not trained in properly assessing movement patterns of the individuals he/she is attempting to coach. They may be able to regurgitate all the catch phrases from their foundations course, ie high intensity, range of motion, compound movements, but they don't quite grasp the full meaning of them.
If you were trying to get your pilot's license, would you trust an instructor that received theirs through a correspondence course and had never flown before? Probably not. It's great that they are enthusiastic about CrossFit and want to share, but not at the risk of injuring someone. Refer them to the experts--a local affiliate or a Level-1 certified coach--because CrossFit deserves more than a half-assed approach.
