Wednesday, 20 July 2011: Forget the Numbers

I was reminded the other day that sometimes you have to forget about the numbers. As CrossFitters we're taught to race the clock, increase the weight, count the blocks, etc. But sometimes that gets tedious and becomes a chore rather than a joy. We become obsessive over the clock. We get obsessive about doing the WOD Rx. On an anniversary dinner we find ourselves obsessing that there are too many carbs with the meal you ordered instead of ordering that bottle of champagne and celebrating. At times we forget why we fell in love with CrossFit and what it really means to CrossFit.

Go back to basics. Turn the clock off. Stop obsessing. Get lost in the WOD for what it is--a journey of self discovery. Have fun. But most importantly, forget the numbers.
