The mind is truly an amazing thing. I went into the WOD trying to balance rest and work output and thought that doing 6 sets of 5 reps would be the best way to tackle this WOD. I know that my weakness is shoulder strength as witnessed from my JT time from yesterday and my measly overhead squat numbers. I figured that if I broke up the WOD into 6 sets, it would be more manageable. So here's the interesting thing...when the WOD started, my "Go" just went. I was able to cycle the first 4 reps without letting go of the bar. By this time I started telling myself to just keep going and not to break it up. Although I started dropping from the top at rep 5, I made myself grab onto the bar every time I bent over. This definitely made me go faster. By the time I reached 15 reps, it was all down hill so I figured why stop and rest now. My mind kept saying "Go, go, go" and the body listened. My only "rest" was during my set up each time I re-gripped the bar. Since this was my first time with Grace I'm pretty happy with the results--not a bad time especially after doing max effort push presses just a few minutes before.
