WOD
Time Trial:
2x200m run, 1min recovery.

Post times to comments.

RESULTS
32/32

I tried using the metronome set at 102BPM, but that was too slow. For the second one I set it at 106BPM, and it was still too slow. So for shorter distances at max effort, ie time trials, a metronome should be set for a higher BPM. As the distances increase, the BPM will most likely decrease in order to maintain max effort.

The purpose of the previous weeks' workouts was to increase speed and stamina using multiple intervals at short distances. The idea is to be able to maintain the same pace for all intervals even as the number of intervals increase. Then you can either decrease the recovery period or increase the distance for each interval and repeat the cycle. So theoretically, a 32s 200m means I should be able to run a 1:04-1:07 400m. When I'm able to maintain that 1:04-1:07 pace without deviating more than 3s for several intervals, then it's time to decrease the recovery time or increase the distance. This way you're teaching your body to maintain that high intensity pace.
