This is a collection of my thoughts and observations that I've made throughout my CrossFitting career. With the growing popularity of CrossFit, new boxes are springing up everywhere but the quality of coaching is still lagging behind. This can be easily fixed by actively discussing various topics that will help improve the quality of our coaching. The goal is to improve your understanding of human movement so that you can better coach any athlete that walks through your doors.
After much internal debate, I decided to take a rest day. Now I know why the CF Strength Bias program is set up the way it is. If you deviate from the recommended rotation of exercises, your body doesn't have enough time to recover for the next exercise in the schedule. For example, I did deadlifts and a metcon that had SDHPs yesterday on a day that typically has my CF Endurance WOD scheduled. Well, today is front and back squats with a WOD that has thrusters, cleans, and SDHPs. My posterior chain is fried from yesterday's deadlifts and forcing myself to do heavy squats and a metcon that has a lot of posterior chain exercises wouldn't be the smartest thing. It's best that I take a day to recover.
